Located in Manhattan, the store sold kites imported from around the world, with a specialty in Indian Fighters. The success of this kite store led to the opening of other kite shops across North America. These new stores needed kites to fill their walls, so Go Fly a Kite became a distributor of the kites they were offering in their store. In the 1970s, manufacturing became a new goal of Andreas. Andrea and second husband Mark Skwarek moved the operation to East Haddam, CT, and turned Americas first kite shop into one of the world’s leading kite manufacturers.
